At Hilton Church we believe that we all have a responsibility for one another to use the gifts God has given us to minister to one another, allowing God to express his love and grace through each one of us.  Howeer we thought you’d like to know the one who gets to call himself ‘Reverend’ (though he  hardly ever does!) and to meet the others who are employed by the Church.

Duncan MacPherson                                                Position: Minister

Duncan was born and brought up on the Island of Skye. He began his working life as a solicitor after studying law. He then studied for the ministry, and after graduating went on an extended backpacking journey around the World! He moved to Inverness in 1992 and has been at Hilton Parish Church since 1994.

He is married to Shona who works as a Speech & Language Therapist locally. Together with their three children, Eilidh, Rory and Peter, who have all now “flown the nest,” they have thoroughly enjoyed being a long term part of the life and ministry of the congregation.

Duncan has especially enjoyed building and developing a variety of team ministries over the years, which have been focused around work with youth and families.

He has also been very active in a number of International projects, which led to many members of the congregation going on work parties to Peru and Tanzania with the Vine Trust. He is an enthusiastic hill walker and recently completed his round of Munros.

In 2019, he also walked the Camino Frances, a journey of nearly 600 miles across Northern Spain. He also plays golf and in recent years has been a member of the Church of Scotland golf team.

Office Administrator

I was brought up in the Strathpeffer area and then lived in Edinburgh for approx 14 years, where I worked for the Royal Bank of Scotland. I returned north to Inverness in 2001 and have been a member of Hilton Church since then.

I’m married to Rod and have 2 daughters, Carrie and Rebekah. I spend most of my time, when not here in the office, as a taxi service for my daughters, running them to and from their various activities!

I grew up in Inverness and went to Crown Church where my wedding to Peter took place.  I first came to Hilton Church in 2005.  We have two grown-up children, Callum and Lauren.

I work as a Domestic:  at Raigmore Hospital on weekends,  and at Castle House dental practice on weekdays.   I help out with Hilton Family Support groups and the sensory play group.  My hobbies are aerobics,  zumba and dog walking  with a friend and her dog Pippin.

What you really wanted to hear is: (1)  I cause all the trouble (2) I avoid any big spiders. (3) I’m a rebel as I’m Dandy Dawn the Aberdeen Supporter. I love winding up Jane as she is Ross County.
