Book Group report from Shona

Wee report from Shona of last month’s Book Group, and an invitation to the October get-together:

We had an enjoyable evening with eight of us meeting on Zoom. It was nice to catch up on everyone’s news and then we discussed Hamnet by Maggie O Farrell.

Sadly it didn’t receive a glowing report. Most of us struggled to enjoy it and were disappointed with the ending. It was rather gloomy and didn’t really keep your interest. Despite that we gave it a generous 3/5.

Some folk started on a classic but unfortunately only Jean had finished her choice, Pride and Prejudice.

For next month we have three options:

The Night Gate by Peter May
Beneath a Scarlet Sky by Mark Sullivan
One August Night by Victoria Hislop

We are going to meet in person this month in the upstairs room of the Lighthouse on Thursday 28th October at 7.30pm.

At the moment the plan is to each bring our own hot drink and snack and I think we will need to wear a mask on arrival but will be able to take them off once we are seated.
