The readings for Sunday were:
A lovely service this morning, marking the end of school term, and for some young people the transition to new things.
Some had come to the end of Primary 7, and will be going to secondary school after the summer. They’ll also be leaving Sunday Club and becoming part of the Nitelife Youth group. They received a Scripture Union guide to surviving high school.
Angus Walker and Calum MacQuarrie are leaving secondary school. After the summer, Angus will be attending Napier University in Edinburgh where he’ll study music. Calum is having a gap year before going to university. Duncan presented each of them with a Bible, speaking very highly of their maturity and the sensitivity of their input at night life. An Aileen Thomson prayed moving for them, touching on the significance for both their families of their coming to an end of their schooling, Angus the youngest of the Walker family, Calum the oldest of the MacQuarries.
We heard reports of Nightlife, which has been led by Eilidh Macpherson, assisted by Aileen Thomson and Lesley Blaikie. The young people are very grateful to nine folk from the church who each spent time with the group on Zoom, speaking about their own lives and faith journeys.
Worship was led by the young praise band and Chris Watt, Duncan chaired, and Eilidh reflected on the lessons we can learn from the familiar story of the unequal encounter of David and Goliath.
And we were delighted to learn this morning that yesterday Eilidh MacPherson became engaged, on the Isle of Skye to Luke West.
