Duncan on the Camino: Day 13

Duncan Camino 45

Borges to San Bol. (27km)

The guidebook tells us that the accommodation in San Bola that we are staying at tonight recently acquired electricity so I am not holding my breath for WiFi! We have just walked 21km to Hornillos del Camino. It has been a pretty dreich morning with a steady drizzle since we left Borges. We are walking along a plateau at a height of about 1000 metres so the landscape is quite bleak, especially in the rain. I am currently warming myself next to a wood burning stove in a cafe and taking on some much needed fuel.

We noticed a change in the people walking the Camino today. Many we have never seen before. Many people stop for a break in Borges, so we may be catching up with folk who were ahead of us. Many people also start their Camino walk in cities like Borges. We have also met many people who walk the Camino in stages, perhaps doing a week at a time over a number of years.

We have 6km to walk to San Bol this afternoon, so we should be at our accommodation early. The Albergues we have been staying often have accommodation for several hundred. The one tonight has space only for 12 and offers a communal meal as part of the experience, so that should be good.
