When, Where and Why?
Toddlers runs on Monday mornings and on Fridays mornings from 9:45-11:15 in the church hall at Hilton Church during school term time. To cover weekly costs there is a nominal fee of £1.50 per family per session.
It is organised by a group of folk that go along to the church. Our aim is to run a fun, friendly group which allows the children lots of opportunities to play and the parents and carers a chance to chat, unwind and support one another through the ups and downs of looking after children! We hope you find a warm, friendly welcome here!
From the subs we receive for Toddlers, £21 a month is sent to the charity Compassion who, through local churches, provide children with food, medical care, education and who also organise a child sponsorship programme. We sponsor Nashon Odindo from Kenya and write to him about Toddlers, Hilton church and life in Scotland.
Now and again we also organise a baking stall to raise more money for our funds.
The church hall is fairly large which allows a good variety of toys to be available for toddlers. At the far end of the hall there are bigger toys which include a slide, trampoline and ride-on cars. Among other toys there are also car and railway tracks, a kitchen corner, dressing up clothes and tables for playdough and jigsaws. A craft activity is available at the beginning of the session until snack time. The opposite end of the room is set up as a baby area, with baby toys, bouncers and comfier chairs for the adults.
Snack-time is usually around 10:30 or so and is prepared by a volunteer from the church, alongside two parents/ carers who have signed up to the rota. Teas and coffees are also available for the adults.
Each session finishes with a song time before tidying up the hall.
From time to time we also organise additional meetings and social events, which are advertised on the notice board.
