Walking on water: wisdom and the Christian family
Wisdom

A very personal reflection on this mornng's service from John Dempster. ‘Wisdom’ and ‘family, were among the key themes at this morning’s service. Barry Dennis’s sermon a couple of Sundays go had prompted Duncan to reflect about how we acquire wisdom, and he shared some details about his own family background and the people – notably his grandmother – who influenced him and taught him priceless truths. The context was one of this Sunday’s

But seeing it prompted sadness rather than delight, for I knew that autumn would come and the burn

This morning, Jonathan preached on Romans 7:15-25 – where St Paul writes about the inner battle to do what we know is right. This is one of the most hotly debated passages in the whole Bible – I remember hearing about a Bible expert who, every time he came across a new book about Paul’s letter to the Romans turned first to see what the author had to say about chapter
