Action over Iraq

Christians around the world have been deeply concerned about the events in Iraq over the last few weeks when hundreds of thousands of people from Christian and other minority groups have been driven from their homes by ISIS (now calling itself ‘The Islamic State.’) I’m sure we’ve all been asking ourselves what we can do to make a difference. The Church of Scotland has published some information to guide us.

See here for news of the Church of Scotland’s response to the crisis. It links to a statement on the crisis, and a list of practical ways we can help, including prayer, giving, writing to MPs, signing a petition and using social media.

When it comes to giving financially, the Church of Scotland, and our local leaders in Hilton suggest that we should contribute to Christian Aid, who have partners on the ground with whom they are able to work to ensure that the aid is most effectively distributed. Christian Aid’s link is here.
