A one-star story

Trains and lovers

Here’s a report from Shona of the Bookgroup held last week at the Light House:

“I have to say that our Book Group this month was fairly unanimous in not enjoying A Possible Life by Sebastian Faulks.

The book is separated into five sections describing the lives of five different characters. Throughout the book you areĀ  looking for a connection between them all, and it does not appear! Also, each story is fairly depressing and sad. So our Bookgroup gave it only 1 star, which is definitely our poorest rating for a long time!

This month we are reading Trains and Lovers by Alexander McCall Smith – a much lighter, easier read we hope.

We will meet again at the Light House on Thursday 3rd April and 7.30pm.”

Everyone is welcome to the Bookgroup – please let Shona know if you hope to come along. Currently no men attend the group, although they would be welcome, but and in fact Shona was wondering if there was scope for a Bookgroup for men. She says meeting to discuss a book is a great way of getting to know other people. It’s fascinating to see that we all find something different in a book, depending on the life experiences we bring to our reading.
