Noah was a righteous man,
blameless among the people of his time,
and he walked faithfully with God. – Genesis 6:9
Walking. Simple, basic walking. Most do it daily. To the kitchen, to the shop, with the dog.
Could walking with God be simple in the same way?
Various quotes exist like: ‘A woman who walks with God always reaches her destination’ and ‘Smart men walked on the moon, daring men walked on the ocean floor, but wise men walk with God.’
Jesus’ pattern is ‘come and see.’ He invites us to journey with Him, as He went to the temple, the cross, the grave and to the Father.
Learning His ways, being a disciple does not require an extensive programme or expensive tools.
The Gospels are full of stories of people who just meet Jesus, as he is going on the road.
Where can we meet Jesus in our rhythms and goings? How do we recognize Him?
How do we learn to enjoy the journey with Him?
Should we learn to move from strategies and programmes towards basic walking with God?
A counter-cultural, Jesus-inspired church on the move might just be most effective when it is walking with God and walking alongside others.
