Back in the church: Service livestreamed from Hilton Church

by | Nov 29, 2020 | Events

This Sunday,  first Sunday in Advent, there was a service in the Church building for the first time since March at 10am. Numbers were limited because of the COVID restrictions.  Please see here for details about how to book a place at next Sunday’s service.

You can watch the Livestream here, or follow the link below.

The Bible readings for today were:

Isaiah 64:1-9Psalm 80:1-7, 17-19, Mark 13:24-37 and 1 Corinthians 1:3-9

Duncan spoke of the longing of Jewish people in the Old Testament for God to come down, to intervene on earth, and of the fact that the coming of Jesus was God’s answer to their prayers.  Similarly we cry out today for divine intervention in these apocalyptic times, and Advent reminds us that again God comes to us, bringing strength, courage and hope in Jesus. And we look into an uncertain future, and long for God to break in and heal the world, and again our Advent readings remind us that we will not be disappointed. Watch out attentively, the Lord is at hand!
