Advent readings: recommendations from Duncan

This Sunday, which is the First Sunday in Advent marks the beginning of a new church year. This is Year B and you can find the readings for every Sunday over the new year here. It would be great if you were able to read the four passages in advance of each Sunday, as it will help you to follow the services better.
Advent is a time for watching and waiting. It’s a time for preparing for the coming of the Lord. There are many different kinds of books to encourage and support this preparation and reflection. Here are a few I have used over the years.
Beginnings and Endings (and What Happens in Between): Daily Bible Readings from Advent to Epiphany by Maggi Dawn Amazon
The Meaning is in the Waiting: The Spirit of Advent by Paula Gooder Amazon Waterstones
The Art of Advent: A Painting a Day from Advent to Epiphany by Jane Williams Amazon Waterstones
Waiting on the Word: A poem a day for Advent, Christmas and Epiphany by Malcolm Guite Amazon Waterstones
If anyone is looking for a daily set of reflections based around the lectionary readings beginning at Advent, I would strongly recommend
Reflections for Daily Prayer: Advent 2020 to Christ the King 2021 Amazon Waterstones
