The latest from the Anchor Food Support Project
News from Hannah and Joe at Anchor Food Support Project
Hello. Friday just passed marked the last day of our providing free hot meals to the Inverness community.
With the easing of lockdown measures, the ending of our current funding, Hannah and I returning to work and the school term beginning, now is a good time to pause and focus on the next steps to take.
We have learned a great deal over the past 14 weeks and feel that there is more to be done in the months to come, especially with Winter just around the corner (sorry to remind you!)
With this in mind we are keen to hear any suggestions about how best to help with food support those who may find themselves having to shield or put into a vulnerable situation by any future lockdown/safety measures. Please message us on the Anchor Food Project Facebook page, any tips or ideas would be much appreciated.
Speaking of appreciation, our sincere thanks go out to all of the wonderful congregation of Hilton Church, our delivery volunteers, our allergen labelling team (writing 200+ labels is not fun!), Simeon Ewing @ Hilton Family Support, Hilton Scotmid, Highland Council, Redshank Catering, Cobbs Fort Augustus, Kit Slater our glamorous Friday evening pot washer and lift giver, the team at Brakes Inverness (beats lugging bags of supermarket shopping up the road) and all those who helped us out with equipment (please message me if you would like it returned, I have lockdown brain and can’t for the life of me remember who donated what).
Thank you all so much. We have been humbled by everything you have helped with or given. A Friday night meal may seem a small dip in the ocean but we sincerely hope it has helped and cheered up the recipients.
Hopefully this isn’t the last you’ll hear from us. We aim to open up the cafe at the Lighthouse when it is safe to do so and continue to support the Hilton and Inverness community as need arises.
All the best to you and yours
Hannah and Joe
