Message from Philip and Matthew Todd

Philip and Matthew Todd are well-know to us at Hilton Church. Both have been involved in Out of the Box’s Acting, Music and Puppetry events at the church, including the making of excellent videos showcasing the work of each AMP event. Matthew works as part of the Out of the Box Team.

Philip and Matthew are also part of Fellowship Film , which makes films in Scotland with a strong Christian ethos. Their first full-length feature, for example was The Gaelic King.

Here’s a report from Matthew, reflecting on the impact on Fellowship Film of the current crisis and beneath it a link to a video reflection from Phil:

“Frodo: I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened. Gandalf: So do all who live to see such times, but that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us.”

We at Fellowship Film have always been inspired by J. R. R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings. Our name ‘Fellowship Film’ was inspired by the ‘Fellowship’ that was tasked with the daunting quest of taking the Ring of Power into the depths of enemy territory and destroying it.

Perhaps there has never been a time when the above quote has been more pertinent. Many of us feel so helpless at the moment as old certainties seem to crumble around us.

We at Fellowship Film believe in stories. We believe that, now more than ever, tales of good conquering evil and light overcoming darkness could make all the difference.

So we want to use opportunities wisely. We want to keep telling those stories that will bring courage and joy to those who need it most. We want to make the most of the time that has been given to us.
