HILTON CHURCH LIVESTREAM SERVICE ON SUNDAY 22ND MARCH, 2020 @ 10am
HILTON CHURCH LIVESTREAM SERVICE ON SUNDAY 22nd MARCH, 2020 @ 10am
You will see that there are a multitude of worship services and reflections on Sunday, as per previous post.
I felt that it would be good for us to have an act of worship using Facetime live on Hilton Church’s Facebook page beginning at 10am on Sunday morning. The Facebook page is public and therefore can be accessed without any major complications. [John writes: if you Google Hilton Parish Church Facebook it will bring up our page which you can open even if you don’t have a Facebook Account. It will ask you to sign up but there is a ‘not just now’ option in wee letters at the bottom which you can click to keep access to the page.]
I imagine that this will be the first time in the history of Hilton Church (the sanctuary opened in March 1958 ) that there hasn’t been a morning service. At this point, I’m thinking in terms of Peter MacPherson leading some worship, sharing in the Northumbrian Community Morning office which you can find here and offering a short reflection from Psalm 46.
It will be an opportunity for us to take stock of the unprecedented times we find ourselves in as a congregation, and to initiate a conversation about how we move forward together. Among issues we will want to consider is how we support and retain contact with those in our fellowship who have no presence on social media. We have been endeavouring to make contact with most of them already this week.
I have been meditating all week on Psalm 46, and have found its opening words so encouraging:
“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear,
In the words of Paul from Phiippians 4,
“May the peace of God, which transcends all understanding….guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Grace & peace
